Tabitha has always been a scientist, interested in the usage and limitations of land. He grew up in Lavaridge Town, where the volcano is used for a multitude of purposes. After graduation, he got a job at Devon Corp, hoping to use the research tools to find new ways to utilize and expand land. But their limitations were far too stiff, so after meeting Maxie, he left the company and helped found Team Magma. Throughout his tenure they grew the team and came to blows with Team Aqua and various renowned trainers such as Champion Steven Stone, his former employer's son. Tabitha used his old lab credentials to access Devon's old files and complete the design of the Magma Suit, which was later given to a trainer after the disastrous awakening of Primal Groudon.After the by and large disbandment of Team Magma, save for the science division including the Admins and Leader, Tabitha worked on the development of the Aether Paradise. Team Aqua also assisted, focusing on the more nautical aspects of design. He currently works in ecological surveys and application of terraforming to make inhospitable land livable for a wider variety of lifeforms.

Portrayal

[This page will cover headcanons.]- Tabitha has always had a vested interest in ecology, and trying to maximize the effective usage of land. Knowing that even at full efficiency that the expanding population will need more land in time, he wished to put his efforts towards terraforming and pushing the coast further out. Even if it would disrupt coastal environments, he reasoned that the depths of the ocean would be able to accommodate the relocation of aquatic life.- His family runs a Geothermal Installation company, digging wells to cycle water for heating. He learned about the functions of thermodynamics and the science involved in the process very early on, which was the catalyst for his scientific pursuits.- Team Magma and Team Aqua, trying to help the world peacefully, assisted the Aether Foundation in the creation of their artificial island, the Aether Paradise. Team Magma, for the prospect of harmlessly creating usable landmass, and Team Aqua to ensure that it would cause no harm to the surrounding water. Tabitha focused on creation of self contained biomes to allow the endangered Pokémon brought to the paradise to live in a familiar environment.- Both having been employees of Devon Corp at the same time, Tabitha and Shelly have a bit of history as coworkers, which drove their rivalry when Team Magma and Team Aqua came to blows. Their conflicting ideologies on which features of the planet are the most important causes tension, but their mutual love for science provides some friendly conversation.
Tabitha totally had a crush on her when they worked together, which he has only partly outgrown.- Even though it has some negative connotations, Tabitha still wears his Team Magma uniform when doing field work. It's comfy, durable, and heat resistant. He also has a hooded bathrobe with the logo and ears.

Excavators

At the present, Tabitha uses a team of Ground Type Pokémon to assist in field terraforming. He will only use six in battle per regulations, but has Grunts keep his extras on hand for work.

Flygon, the Mystic Pokémon

Flygon was a Trapinch outside the Desert Ruins, and followed Tabitha around while he was investigating rumors of a Legendary Pokémon. She ended up following him all the way out of the desert, so Tabitha captured her. Now as a Flygon, she loves to fly around with her trainer on her back.Flygon's favored moves are Crunch, Dragon Claw, Earthquake, and First Impression. She has a Jolly Nature, and the ability Levitate.

Mamoswine, the Twin Tusk Pokémon

Mamoswine was found inside of an Iceberg as a Piloswine, having been frozen for centuries. Tabitha was leading an expedition and noticed him, digging the ancient hog out and ensuring it was healthy. Not one to receive help without returning it, Piloswine joined Tabitha's group, and later evolved.Mamoswine's preferred moves are Earthquake, Icicle Crash, Body Slam, and Stone Edge. He has an Adamant Nature, and the ability Thick Fat.

Camerupt, the Eruption Pokémon

Tabitha's Camerupt is the brother of Maxie's. He was the original Ace of Tabitha's team, but has since been overtaken as the core thanks to lacking a Mega Stone. But Camerupt doesn't seem to mind, it doesn't want to be so heavily relied on like Maxie's Mega Camerupt.Camerupt's preferred moves are Fire Blast, Earth Power, Ancient Power, and Hidden Power Grass. He has a Modest Nature, and the ability Anger Point.

Palossand, the Sand Castle Pokémon

Palossand joined the team while Tabitha was visiting Alola to work on the Aether Paradise's early construction. She was a potential danger to construction, so Tabitha tried to relocate her to another spot on the beach via capture and release. However, she wished to stay with the team, so Tabitha kept her.Palossand's preferred moves are Sandstorm, Earth Power, Shadow Ball, and Hidden Power (Electric). She has a Quiet Nature, and the ability Sand Veil.

Claydol, the Clay Doll Pokémon

Claydol was found in the rubble near Sky Pillar, after the Mega Rayquaza incident. There was a little scuffle due to a misunderstanding, but now it helps Tabitha work.Claydol's preferred moves are Psychic, Earth Power, Body Press, and Dazzling Gleam. It has a Rash Nature, and the ability Levitate.

Torterra, the Continent Pokémon

Captured as a Grotle in Ula'Ula Meadow while he was in Alola. Tabitha had heard of Torterra's capacity to sustain lifeforms off the foliage on it's back, and wanted to research it directly.Torterra's preferred moves are Wood Hammer, Headlong Rush, Earthquake, and Crunch. He has a Lax Nature, and the ability Overgrow.

Steelix, the Iron Snake Pokémon

Steelix was encountered in Granite Cave, near the mural of Primal Groudon and Kyogre. He was only an Onix at the time, and never fought on Tabitha's team, instead being relegated to tunneling work. Now, it is the Ace of the team in battle, and still loves to dig into the great unknown.Steelix's preferred moves are Drill Run, Gyro Ball, Body Press, and Dragon Tail. He has a Brave Nature, and the ability Sturdy.Steelix holds a Steelixite dug up recently. It's ability becomes Sand Force when it transforms.

Others

Tabitha has various other Pokémon who live around the lab, but they do not actively accompany him or battle alongside him.

Former battlers on Tabitha's team, who have since been retired.
Numel, Mighteyena, and Golbat appeared on his team in Pokémon Emerald alongside the Camerupt who remains active.
Koffing appeared on his team in Pokémon Omega Ruby.
All of them live in the Team Magma compound and still help out, but are not battlers anymore.

Snorlax was caught in Galar to research the Dynamax phenomenon, and how the energy of the transformation generates a small ecosystem. Unfortunately, Dynamax energy is hard to control, and the cosmetic effects are phanstasmal projections of power rather than physical changes.
Skitty was actually his childhood companion, and remained home with Tabitha's family until after the Groudon incident. Now she lives with him and lounges around the lab all day.
